In the CC dropdown there is a message that CC is not compatible with my OS and I must update my Mac which I don't want to do as I've heard of issues with ElCapitan. LR 6 is now in my applications folder but won't open.

I registered the camera and with the TAN# received my code but I'm forced to create and install CC. My understanding was that all Leicas come with a free desktop version of LR and not CC. I'm running Mac OSX10.8.5 The Adobe site claims LR6 is compatible with 10.8 but not the CC version which requires 10.9 or later.

I already have LR4 but would like to upgrade to 6 as it supports the Q. I've recently purchased a Q, my first Leica. Some help here would be much appreciated. (You need LR6.3 if you are using a Leica SL as it is the first version that includes the camera calibration profile for the SL DNG files.) Run LR6.3 and use the authorization code.Don't download anything associated with CC. Go to the Leica website and do whatever you have to do (I don't remember) to get the TAN number transformed into the Adobe authorization code (looks like this: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).Go to and download Lightroom 6.3 for your system.Personally, im not convinced that the upgrade from 4 to 6 is worthwhile.

After an hours processing in LR6, I find that the application slows down and images in folders on my SSD equiped MacBook Pro no longer appear and I have to shut down and reboot. I agree that LR6 isn't a great improvement over 4 which is a lot quicker. Even standalone LR6 tries to steer you towards their cloud. Adobe are trying every trick to get you to sign up for CC.
So far so good.ĭownloading via the Leica website avoids the nuisance of the referencing to CC. It doesn't seem any faster or slower, but I like that the interface hasn't changed a lot and my plugins swapped right over. So far LR 6 is a lot like the LR4 I just upgraded from, but several members here said that there are different processing algorithms that should be better. I have not had any issues yet, but am thinking of uninstalling the Adobe CC program and see if that affects the LR6 license. The tricky thing is that you download the Adobe CC installer which opens the program and says it is downloading Lightroom CC 2015, but when it downloads and installs the program comes up as Lightroon 6. But, I let the process go through and it worked out. I just performed the upgrade two days ago and had a similar experience as the OP. Keep your previous version installed if you have it, so that you can go back if necessary. The latest version works but is slower and causes crashes. There have been two version changes due to bugs and changes by Adobe in respect of the Import images feature that was drastically changed to the annoyance of users. Once installed, I updated the version to the latest. You shouldn't be downloading yet another fresh piece of software at this point.Īlthough I downloaded in November, I only did the above process and installed yesterday. That update from version 6 to 6.3 is done from a link inside the running program. The recent updates of 6 do not require you to completely download and install a new version. (This is a crucial part of the process but the conversion isn't too clear on that page.

An email from Leica will contain the registration code that has to be converted to a licence code on the interactive web page. I entered my TAN number to get a registered free download of Lightroom. I found it a bit smoother to go to the website, then into the members area, (which you should sign up as a user), and then to the software section.
